About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will operate and provide temporary housing facilities for families and pregnant individuals seeking shelter (referred to as Family Guests), offering staffing, supportive services, and wrap-around assistance. Additionally, AMI will aid in identifying longer-term housing solutions for the Family Guests.
Job Summary:
The Direct Care Worker (DCW) will play a crucial role in supporting the shelter's operational functioning. They will assist with Family Guest management and work with the other staff to coordinate lodging, food service, transportation, supply management, and the handling of other shelter responsibilities. The DCWs attention to detail and ability to multitask will contribute to creating a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for both residents and staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet and assist Family Guests, ensuring compliance with shelter policies, and provide necessary information and guidance to arriving individuals.
- Register Family Guests appropriately, monitor their activities for safety, and provide courteous assistance to address inquiries or concerns.
- Manage meal distribution and inventory, ensuring proper storage and restocking to maintain efficiency and minimize waste.
- Coordinate transportation services based on Family Guest needs.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain a safe and organized environment, support emergency procedures, and enforce shelter policies.
- Collect required information from new residents, allocate accommodations based on needs, and facilitate smooth check-out processes.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback.
- Coordinate with other staff to provide departing residents with necessary support and referrals.
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.?

- Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process, including a motor vehicle check.
- Proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Office.

- Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, visitors, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong cultural awareness and track record working with diverse populations and needs.
- Completed BLS training is preferred.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in hospitality, operations management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Proven experience in a similar operational or support role, preferably in a shelter or hospitality setting.
