About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will operate and provide temporary housing facilities for families and pregnant individuals seeking shelter (referred to as Family Guests), offering staffing, supportive services, and wrap-around assistance. Additionally, AMI will aid in identifying longer-term housing solutions for the Family Guests.
Job Summary:
System navigators respond to challenges in identifying available services and making effective
referrals for families with complex needs. System navigators will act as on-demand connections experts who are knowledgeable about service availability and eligibility and connected with key individuals in other systems. They will interface with shelter staff and act as in-house consultants and support systems to case managers, housing search and stabilization staff who are struggling to
help families navigate complex bureaucracies. Consolidating this expertise in a separate staff role rather than expecting all case managers to know all resources in a given region aims to lessen duplication of efforts in attempting to forge connections to community resources, increase the ability to provide training on and develop expertise in system offerings, and ultimately, improve family well-being.

Duties/Responsibilities:

This is a non-family facing role.

Work with refugees/migrants, who are residing in shelter care, to remove barriers to housing, employment and ensuring that they are connected to the means of ongoing support for self and family.

The objective of the System Navigator is to ease the transition, empower the client, and put him/her on the path to self-sufficiency by building relationships and obtaining resources with local community entities and delivering back to our social work and case management team.

Contact area service providers through mailings, phone inquiries, and person-to-person meetings to provide them with program information and to inquire about available services.

As appropriate, request and client emergency assistance checks.

Complete documentation of all meetings with and work related to clients thoroughly and in a timely manner.

Use appropriate forms and policies as directed by Supervising Case Manager.

File all documentation in the appropriate client or program file.

Work as part of the program team, and participate in staff meetings, and in service trainings.

Completed BLS training is preferred.
Education & Experience:

Undergraduate degree in social services, psychology, social work, etc.

Minimum of 1 year of experience relevant to the position and working with families and/or children, and/or other vulnerable populations. Work with refugee or migrant populations strongly preferred; 3 years of experience highly desirable.
