Amigos de Guadalupe's Mission:
Amigos de Guadalupe fulfills its mission by focusing on four strategies: Expansive Outreach (Alcance Comunitario), Trusted Information & Referral (Amigos de Confianza), Targeted Direct Services Program (Comunidad Fortalecida) and Case Management (Compañerismo). The Rapid Response Manager will be mostly focused on comunidad fortalecida and compañerismo .
Founded on the principles of justice and advocacy, Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment partners with the Si Se Puede Collective and local agencies to make social services more accessible to the Mayfair Community; to strengthen individuals and the community through education; and to address social inequities by creating strong leaders through community organizing.
Overview of Position:
The Rapid Response Network Accompaniment Coordinator supports the Rapid Response Network (RRN) in supporting families who have a detained family member with community resources and moral support during such challenging times. The Accompaniment Coordinator will support families through case work and through connecting families with local accompaniment teams.
Overview of the Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County
Amigos de Guadalupe serves as both a partner and the fiscal agent for the Rapid Response Network (RRN) in Santa Clara County. The RRN is a coalition of six community-based organizations (CBOs) working together to serve as the county's frontline defense against deportation. We operate a hotline for community members to report ICE sightings or seek support if loved ones are detained. Additionally, we host quarterly legal clinics and provide Know Your Rights and rapid response education throughout the county.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development
- Assist families through case work and connecting families to community resources.
- Implement and update training manual, resource guide, materials needed to implement program effectively.
- Create protocols to assure the safety and security of program participants.
- Develop communication systems with Rapid Response Network Dispatchers to gather information of immediate family members needed to mobilize for support services.
- Coordinate with Rapid Response Network partners for recruitment to create Accompaniment Teams.
- Work with institutional leadership to assure support provided by volunteers is adequate and culturally competent.
- Determine service gaps and work with county service providers to fill gaps.
Supervision
- Support volunteer-based accompaniment teams with technical assistance.
- Support with the facilitation of Accompaniment Trainings for volunteers.
- Ensure cultural competency and clarity to volunteers in Accompaniment Teams.
Case Management
- Provide intake and maintain case files
- Link family to basic need services (i.e. food, transportation, financial support)
- Create short-term and long-term plan leading toward self-sufficiency for families
- Work with family to meet goals for a minimum of 3 months
- Communicate with family attorney as needed
- Connect family to RRN through deportation defense community events
Program Evaluation
- Provide monthly reports to the Rapid Response Steering Committee
- Evaluate effectiveness and opportunities to strengthen program
- Ensure RRN callers who have been detained are linked to an Accompaniment Team
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working in community-based organizations in community organizing, community leadership development and/or peer-to-peer service delivery models (i.e. Promotora) in working poor, immigrant communities
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and comfortable with e-mail communication
- Able to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends
- Fingerprint and background check required
