As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor II, you will work in an in-prison facility delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).

About the Position
In this role, you will deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions. You will effectively implement scheduled program curriculum, lead and participate in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.
You will engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion, and work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate them about supportive networks as they return to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions
- Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum
- Engage participants daily and reinforce group rules and expectations
- Develop and implement treatment/action plans with participants
- Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, and maintain accurate participant records
- Liaise with transition/reentry staff and prepare transitional documents as directed by CDCR
- Collaborate with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have a Master's Degree or above in a social service-related field, be licensed by or registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or be AOD certified. You should also have excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills, as well as operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.
You must demonstrate sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants, and protect and maintain program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
