As a Peer Support Specialist for the Addiction and Recovery Department at Amity Medical Group, your responsibilities will include:
Community Outreach:
- o Conduct outreach activities to engage individuals affected by addiction within the community.
- o Educate community members about available addiction treatment and recovery resources.
- o Build and maintain relationships with local organizations and stakeholders to enhance community partnerships.
- Patient Enrollment:
o Assist individuals in completing enrollment and intake procedures for addiction treatment programs.
o Provide guidance and support to patients in navigating the healthcare system and understanding the recovery process.
o Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient enrollment and retention.
- Peer Support and Advocacy:
o Share personal experiences and provide peer support to individuals in recovery.
o Advocate for the needs and rights of patients within the addiction and recovery program.
o Encourage and empower patients to take an active role in their recovery journey.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, patient interactions, and enrollment data.
o Prepare and submit regular reports in compliance with grant requirements.
o Assist in the evaluation of the program's effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity:

Professional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Peer Support Navigator position should possess the following qualifications:
- Personal Experience in Addiction and Recovery: Must be an individual in recovery from substance use addiction, with a strong commitment to ongoing sobriety.
- Certified Peer Support Worker (Preferred): Certification as a Peer Support Worker is a plus, demonstrating a deep understanding of the principles of peer support.
- Passion for Helping Others: A genuine passion for assisting individuals on their journey to recovery, combined with strong empathy and compassion.
- Community Engagement Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with individuals and community organizations effectively.
