We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Exterior Assistant Superintendent to oversee exterior envelope and finishes, including vapor barrier installation, above and below-grade waterproofing, window and door installation, and coordination of exterior façade materials. This role will also involve coordinating with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural penetrations within the building envelope. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of all exterior construction activities related to building envelope systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Exterior Construction Oversight:
Support the project by managing all aspects of exterior construction activities, including vapor barrier installation, window and door installation, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades. Ensure adherence to plans, specifications, schedules, and safety protocols. - Vapor Barrier Installation:
Supervise and manage the installation of vapor barriers, ensuring proper sealing and placement to optimize energy efficiency and moisture protection. Ensure the system is installed according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements. - Waterproofing Solutions:
Work closely with the team to document, install, and inspect appropriate waterproofing systems, including membranes, coatings, and sealants. Ensure all waterproofing measures meet project standards and protect the building from water infiltration. - Coordination of Exterior Façade Materials:
Oversee and coordinate the integration and installation of various exterior façade materials, including brick, metal siding, stucco, and fiber cement siding. Ensure the proper sequencing and installation of these materials in conjunction with vapor barriers and waterproofing systems, guaranteeing that all exterior components work together seamlessly. - Coordination of Penetrations:
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural teams to ensure proper integration of penetrations (e.g., vents, pipes, conduits, structural supports) through the building envelope. Ensure that all penetrations are properly sealed, flashed, and waterproofed to maintain the integrity of the building envelope and prevent moisture infiltration. - Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of installed vapor barriers, waterproofing materials, exterior façade elements, and penetrations to ensure high-quality workmanship. Identify and resolve any installation issues or deficiencies promptly via Procore observations or punchlist tools. - Collaboration with Trades:
Coordinate closely with manufacturer representatives and other trades (e.g., framing, roofing, insulation, MEP, and façade installation) to ensure smooth integration of waterproofing systems, façade materials, and penetrations within the overall building envelope. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of materials used, installation processes, inspections, photos, and any changes to the scope of work. Report progress, issues, and concerns to the Lead Superintendent. - Safety Compliance:
Enforce safety procedures and guidelines on the job site to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel. Ensure all materials, including waterproofing, vapor barriers, façade components, and penetrations, are handled and applied safely. - Problem-Solving:
Address any challenges that arise during the installation process, including unforeseen weather conditions, material shortages, or technical issues. Develop and implement solutions in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
3 years of experience in exterior construction, with a specific focus on vapor barrier installation, waterproofing systems, coordinating exterior façade materials (brick, metal siding, stucco, fiber cement siding), and managing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural penetrations within the building envelope. - Knowledge:
Strong understanding of vapor barriers, waterproofing techniques, building envelope systems, exterior façade materials (brick, metal siding, stucco, fiber cement), and the integration of penetrations through the envelope. Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to exterior envelope systems and penetrations. - Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to review relevant questions and information and formulate RFIs to confirm and clarify where applicable.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification (preferred).
- Procore Certifications (preferred).
