Description
Job Summary: Serves patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures.
- Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with the Client
- Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
- Maintains professional and friendly attitude with Client representatives and patients
- Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
- Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
- Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
- Transports, or arranges transportation of specimens to the Ammon Laboratory according to client specification and industry standards
- Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule;
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Enhances phlebotomy department and laboratory reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
Requirements
Educational and Experiential Background:
- Minimum (6) Months experience
- Phlebotomy Certification REQUIRED
- Legible handwriting required
- Must have valid driver’s license, travel to client locations is required for the position
- Bilingual a plus!
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
