We’re looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate kennel manager to help lead our shelter team and ensure animals get the highest quality housing and care.

What You’ll Do
This is a new position for our small but mighty shelter. On average, we house about 70 animals at a time. Duties will include:
- Leading our passionate shelter team (up to six people at a time)
- Overseeing some day-to-day operations
- Ensuring the animals’ well-being
- Watching for and addressing illnesses
- Overseeing medication, vet transportation and kennel cleaning
- Training and assisting staff members on medical procedures, such as administering boosters, medication and tests
- Jumping in where needed — for example: cleaning/sanitizing; driving animals to and from vet, transports, surgeries
- Overseeing transports
- Supporting the shelter director in administrative duties as needed, and as time allows
Qualifications

Shelter experience:
- Experience or training in shelter, rescue or veterinary work
- Knowledge of animal medicine — signs and symptoms of illness such as ringworm, scabies, tapeworm, roundworm, ear mites, upper respiratory diseases, kennel cough and parvo
- Knowledge of proper shelter protocol, including for parvo
- Ability to do canine and feline behavioral assessments, to differentiate between fear and aggression, and to handle feral and aggressive animals
- Experience with ShelterLuv
Other qualifications:
- Positive, passionate leader, teacher
- Good at working with the public
- Can work well in stressful situations and handle a fast-paced environment
- Can lift 50 pounds from floor to waist
Availability
Shelter hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. We strongly prefer that candidates be available to occasionally swap out weekdays for weekend shifts. Must also be available outside business hours for transports and surgery drop-off and pick-ups.
Pay, Company Culture
This position starts at $15 per hour, with potential for raise to $20.
