Job Title: Laborer
Job Summary
The Laborer must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to assist all trades as directed by your supervisor. A laborer will help crews meet production deadlines, act as a Firewatch, and be qualified to serve as a forklift driver. These tasks include assisting crews to meet production deadlines.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Clean
- Lubricate equipment maintain a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and readies or put away tools as assigned.
- Closely follows directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery and assembly lines.
- May be trained to act as a forklift operator and Firewatch.
- Report any issues to the supervisor or higher-level employee.
- Assist in loading/unloading equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Assist in good housekeeping aboard ships and toolroom.
- Assist in covering the ship’s equipment with protective coverings and remove when complete.
- Assist other trade workers (painters, scaffolders, etc) as assigned by your supervisor.
Education and Experience
- Previous experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
- Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises.
