Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps and mixing & blending equipment used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications.
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Engineering Technician with a solid background in electro-mechanical systems to join our Applied Products team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems to ensure they operate smoothly and efficiently. Your efforts will directly impact the success of the team, helping to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality results across our projects.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Follow drawings, BOMs, and schematics to assist in the assembly and fabrication of product, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
- Set up and perform tests on mechanical components and systems.
- Document finding, perform calculations, and prepare detailed reports on tests, maintenance activities, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose faults, and perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on pumps and other related machinery.
- Collaborate with engineers to suggest improvements or modifications to mechanical systems based on test results and field feedback.
- Occasional travel may be required, up to 10%.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair, particularly in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environments.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled with tools and equipment used for mechanical maintenance and assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and system testing.
- Strong math and analytical skills for problem-solving and system testing.
- Ability to work independently or in a team, handling multiple tasks in fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with pump systems, valves, and mechanical components used in fluid handling or machinery applications is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLC controls and industrial wiring a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Education/Experience
- High School diploma with 5 years of experience in a similar role, or an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, along with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
