Job Title: Strategic Sourcing Lead – Procurement Department: Supply Chain Reports To: Purchasing Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing materials, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure the company’s operational needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively. They will also have the responsibility of identifying and developing suppliers to meet the organization’s material requirements for quality, cost and delivery, lead time and inventory reduction.

Essential Functions:
Supplier Management:
Identify and develop new sources of supply in support of company objectives.
Work with underperforming suppliers to improve performance or facilitate exit from AFSI supply chain.
Identify new suppliers and perform cost-benefit analysis.
Lead cost reduction projects in support of company cost objectives.
Support engineering team to ensure suppliers and supply chain are in place to support new products and project launches.
Facilitate and execute new part sourcing; Develop and implement purchasing plans for new products. Tracks fulfillment to project milestones.
Support new part setup - ensure new part delivery meets cost and timing requirements.
Understands supplier capabilities and capacities and makes recommendations based on these findings to further the achievement of select quality, cost and lead time goals.
Develop and execute plan for material cost reduction.
Provides critical analysis of supplier performance monthly.
Analyze supplier cost to ensure reasonableness of supplier quote / pricing.
Identify risk to the material supply chain and develop actions to mitigate the risk
Analyzes inventory level. Develop and implement plans to reduce inventory in support of company objectives. Utilize techniques such as consignment, kanban, vendor managed inventory in support of inventory reduction.
Analyze consumption pattern for procured parts. Develop PFEP including type stocking level, efficient order quantity, order frequency etc.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid understanding in the principles, methods, and procedures of governmental purchasing, supplies, materials, and equipment.
Experience working in a manufacturing organization.
Strong project management skillset; detail oriented.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong understanding of ERP / MRP.
Team player: ability to work well with others within department and with other departments.
Travel up to 15% may be required.
Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing preferred.
Strong understanding of manufacturing costs preferred.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
Strong understanding of multiple manufacturing processes preferred(injection molding, rubber molding, plastic SLA, plastic machining, stamping, machining(mill, lathe,etc)
Required Education and Experience:
Four year College or University program certificate preferred; or four to six years related experience in procurement or sourcing, preferably in the manufacturing or similar industry.
Must possess knowledge of inventory control and storage.
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements.
