In this role, you will provide the lead in supporting the development of new products and processes, develop enabling plating and material technologies, perform failure analysis, and interface with suppliers and customers. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.
Responsibilities
- Develop new products and processes via mechanical testing, analytical methods and characterization of electrical connectors, cabling and components.
- Collaborate with product designers in evaluating integrity of: plating systems, base materials, soldering, and welding.
- Develop accelerated test methods to ensure reliability of plating and base materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes thru pilot production, as well as interfacing with customers
- Support plating development in manufacturing including materials and processes for cable and connector products.
- Perform failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Process and analyze testing results, and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers
- Prepare test samples and test requests.
- Research, evaluate and recommend materials to develop enabling technologies for future product development.
- Develop test plans and design of experiments to support product development and qualification.
- Advanced degree in Material Science Engineering specializing in plating technology (MS with 3 years experience or PhD is preferred)
- Experience with plating, welding and soldering processes.
- Experience with materials analysis (ie, SEM, microscopy, XRF, metallography, hardness, stress relaxation, creep and wear test methods)
- Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and or SolidWorks
- Experience with data analysis software, including Design of Experiments
- Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people
- Ability to work in team environment
- Ability to travel as needed to other Amphenol sites, suppliers and customers
- Desire to create and design new products and processes
- Basic understanding of electrical connectors
