Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Integrity Engineer you will provide the lead in supporting the development of new products through testing and analysis of data and designs.
- Develop new products and processes via mechanical testing and qualification of electrical connectors and components.
- Develop test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of electrical connectors that factor in customer use and application requirements.
- Process and analyze testing results, and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
- Support the product design effort in mechanical analysis such as tolerance analysis, FEA, materials analysis, failure analysis and creating test plans.
- Prepare test samples and test requests, design and fabricate test fixtures, interface with test lab technicians.
- Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers.
- MS/PhD Mechanical/Materials Science Engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience
- Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or Solidworks
- Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable, ANSYS experience would be a plus
- Understand how to replicate international standards for testing
- Understanding of electrical systems and electrical connectors
- Understand how to perform failure analysis, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA
- Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work in team environment
- Desire to create and design new products and processes
- Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus
