We are currently seeking a Lab Engineer to join our team in Hamden, CT. The Quality Engineer will provide support to the Operations area in achieving Quality objectives and effective problem resolution, identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives contributing to business growth and cost reduction.

We are currently seeking a Lab Engineer to join our team in Hamden, CT. The Quality Engineer will provide support to the Operations area in achieving Quality objectives and effective problem resolution, identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives contributing to business growth and cost reduction.
Responsibilities
- Act as a SME for all Precision Wrapping or Extrusion related Quality matters
- Formally release or hold product as appropriate (disposition) and/or coordinate with Quality Test & Improvement Lead
- Manage, coordinate, and organize data in a database for historical traceability and/or work with the appropriate experts
- Analyze data for trends and any needed Corrective Actions
- Drive changes to test methods, specs, limits based upon data as needed and communicate
- Coordinate and manage samples associated with failures and their associated tracking, data, movement, and disposition (in-house and received from customers)
- Work with Quality Manager on the incorporation, use and record keeping of standard Quality tools, (5-Why, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, other)
- Work with other local and site Quality Leads and QA Manager to resolve all wrapper/extrusion related inquiries
- Participate in issue review boards/meetings and report as needed
- Track and report on daily yield and escalate concerns as needed
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Quality)
- Experience with wire/cable manufacturing is preferred
- Familiarity with Relyence or other issue tracking tools to document all nonconformances
- Experience with wire extrusion and/or precision wrapping processes is preferred
- Effective use of problem prevention tools, including Quality Planning, Poka Yoke, D-FMEA, P-FMEA, SPC, and MSA
- Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Adept at Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
