Job Description Summary:
The Compliance Engineer ensures that our manufacturing products meet regulatory and industry compliance standards, including UL, ATEX, IECEx, and other hazardous and safe area location certifications. This role will be responsible for maintaining compliance within our manufacturing processes, conducting audits, working with regulatory agencies, and supporting product certification efforts.

Qualifications – Education/Experience:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience in compliance engineering, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of hazardous location certification standards such as UL, ATEX, IECEx, and IEC60079.
- Experience working with certification bodies like UL, Intertek, CSA, and FM.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with electrical connector manufacturing standards.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in international compliance and regulatory processes.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems standards.
- Knowledge of internal audits into Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge of RoHS & REACH regulation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Liaise with third-party certification bodies to facilitate product approvals.
- Coordinate the certification process for new and existing products with external certification bodies, and external testing laboratories.
- Conduct audits into new and existent, internal and external, manufacturing processes associated with the hazardous area products in alignment with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.
- Stay up to date on changes to relevant standards and regulations, advising the company on necessary adjustments.
- Conduct risk assessments and failure analysis investigations to identify gaps affecting certification compliance and drive corrective actions, and implement corrective actions related to compliance issues
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to integrate compliance requirements into product design and manufacturing.
- Prepare, review, and submit documentation for product certifications and regulatory approvals.
- Support the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies.
- Provide training to employees in compliance with requirements and best practices.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and reports for audits and regulatory submissions.
- Work closely with engineering and product development teams to integrate compliance requirements into product design
- Develop and maintain technical documentation required for regulatory submissions, including product specifications, test reports, risk assessments, procedures and quality plans.
- Oversee internal and external product testing to verify compliance with hazardous location standards
- Develop and implement compliance strategies to meet international, national, and regional certification requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to internal stakeholders regarding certification and compliance requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for certification agencies, ensuring timely and efficient communication.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to certification and compliance processes.
- Coordinate the project to implement RoHS & REACH compliance.
