Job Overview
As a Senior AV Service Technician, you will be the go-to expert for servicing and troubleshooting residential audio-visual and automation systems. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that existing systems, primarily legacy Control4 and Crestron installations, continue to operate flawlessly. From responding to client service requests to proactively managing system maintenance, your expertise will help ensure customer satisfaction and system reliability. The role also comes with significant growth potential—you’ll be positioned to step into a Service Manager role, where you can lead and shape the future of the service department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional technical support for high-end residential AV systems, focusing on legacy Control4 and Crestron systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to audio, video, networking, lighting, and automation equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, system updates, and ensure optimal system performance for clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide remote and on-site support, maintaining high levels of communication and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate service records and technical drawings, utilizing tools like Visio to document system layouts and configurations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (once every five weeks), providing after-hours support as needed.
  • Work closely with the installation and design teams, offering insights to improve overall system performance and customer experience.
  • Develop and manage service schedules, ensuring all service requests are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Take initiative to learn and adapt to new technologies, enhancing your skills and contributing to the company’s continued innovation.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working with AV technology, with a strong focus on legacy Crestron and Control4 systems.
  • Proficient in Control4 and Crestron programming, with the ability to perform minor system modifications, troubleshoot programming issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Technician or advanced Service Technician, preferably in a residential AV setting.
  • Strong proficiency in technical drawing software (Visio or similar), with the ability to maintain detailed system documentation is highly desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for troubleshooting and fixing complex system issues.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrating leadership in high-stress service situations.
  • A valid driver’s license and a vehicle for travel to client sites as needed.
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, with after-hours support as required.
