We have an immediate need for a business development manager/ account executive in the energy efficiency services field, who may reside in the Indiana / Kentucky / Tennessee area.
We are an energy-efficiency solutions company, specializing in the development and implementation of cost-cutting energy solutions for a diverse range of commercial, industrial, retail businesses and the public sector. We have a proven track record of providing sustainable and provable energy solutions for clients, large and small, for more than 25 years. Our specialties include lighting and energy performance contracting work. We are excited to be expanding into the solar and EV marketplace as well.
Job Description Business Development Manager
The BDM is responsible for the development and qualification of a sales pipeline and keeping with our business plan with direct customer contact. This role will drive the business by prospecting for new clients, developing relationships, and understanding our clients energy needs. Prospective customer leads will be generated from a number of sources including Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), Industry Allies, Utility Allies, and various other sources. Success in securing customers for us will be measured by secured purchase orders/contracts.
The BDM is responsible for ensuring that the scope and magnitude of lighting and energy services are both maximized and achievable by our Operations Team. The salesperson will lead a collaborative effort to evaluate the viability of our product offerings and the development data gathering and audits, including preliminary cost and savings appraisals. You will have the ability to work virtually but may be required to travel, including overnight stays.

Principal Duties
You will be responsible for the following activities:
- Possess strong knowledge and an established network within the Energy Efficiency Services market.
- Develop and maintain a sales pipeline sufficient to exceed our short and long term business plans.
- Develop and maintain relationships and subcontracting opportunities with tier 1 ESCOs engaged in performance contracting and/or design-build projects.
- Qualify the pipeline of prospects in keeping with the salesperson business plan and corporate culture.
- Client-facing engagement and relationship management.
- Secure customer agreements or commitments in the form of purchase orders/contracts.
- Ensure the successful project transition to our Operations Team.
- Attend project meetings as necessary.
Specific Tasks
- Cold call commercial building owners and facility managers.
- Continually communicate with assigned ESCOs, including re-occurring meetings.
- Enter all sales activity data into our Customer Management System. (Salesforce)
- Attend regular company meetings via teleconference or in person as needed.
- Develop new leads with national clients having multi-site footprints
- Monitor and vet potential leads from various government bid databases (Fed, State, Local)

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in engineering or business preferably with ten years of progressive marketing and sales experience with emphasis on energy management within the industrial and commercial sectors
- MUST HAVE 2-5 years of sales experience directly dealing with ESCO organizations and other Lighting Services Contractors.
- Experience in a quota-driven sales environment, exceeding sales production targets
- Demonstrated financial and business acumen
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with high level economic buyers (C-Suite) and customers staff at varying technical levels
- Experience working with or for engineering, architectural, and/or design-build firms
