Job Description

Job Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Academic Officer, the Athletic Manager(s) of Amplus Academy provide leadership and direction for Amplus Academy’s athletic and extracurricular programs. The Athletic Manager(s) work with the elementary and secondary school administration, athletic coaches (competitive and extra-curricular), and a variety of volunteers to implement athletic programs that align with the Amplus Academy’s vision and expectations for student athletes.  Athletic Managers are leadership positions within the school organization structure.  The Athletic office will include two (2) Athletic Managers beginning June 1, 2025. 

 

Terms of Employment: 12-month per Contract of Employment

 

Salary:  

The compensation for this position is in alignment with the Amplus Governing Board approved Salary Schedule; Salary Schedule based on years’ experience and degree held. Compensation for all positions are determined by the Governing Board and Administration of Amplus Academy. Consideration is given for experience and specialized skills in determining salary.

 

Salary Range:  $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, manage, evaluate, and directly supervise coaches, volunteers, support staff and any other individuals related to the athletic department for all grades (K-12).
  • Supervise and manage practice and game day operations. 
  • Dismiss coaches, volunteers, support staff and any other individual under their supervision who are not meeting necessary goals or those staff who do not align with the Amplus standard.
  • Coordinate with academic administration to effectively communicate and implement policies that impact best practices for athletic eligibility with classroom teachers. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an Amplus Academy representative and works as the school designee to assume responsibility at local, state, and national meetings, governmental hearings, and events pertaining to athletics and related student activities, as assigned.
  • Maintain good standing in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) and National Choice Schools Athletic Association (NCSAA).
  • Follow NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations), NIAA, NCSAA, and other governing policies for training and programs for coaches, officials, administrators, and student athletes.
  • Process and manage athletic eligibility per the governing guidelines for Nevada athletics.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates all Title IX guidelines and Amplus Academy’s Title IX compliance efforts and makes recommendations for appropriate changes; develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Title IX Education Amendments of 1972 and its implementation regulations.
  • Conducts investigations of alleged Title IX complaints.
  • Provides annual updated information on Title IX and gender equity to administrators, staff, coaches, volunteers, students, families, and community members.
  • Identifies and develops appropriate staff development programs for athletic personnel (i.e. certifications, mentoring programs, cultural awareness training, and student athlete leadership recognition, etc.).
  • Coordinates K-12 athletic programs, including regular-season schedules, postseason tournaments, and additional programming (banquets, summer programs, etc.).
  • Coordinate and calendar all athletic events in alignment with academic and community events; communicate the calendar via school website and athletic social media.
  • Schedules and coordinates all transportation for high, middle, and elementary school athletic events; completes travel documentation for field trips related to athletics, as needed. 
  • Recommends, creates, manages, and reports budget for the athletic department and individual teams; coordinates fundraising and ordering for all teams per finance department policies. 
  • Inform and instruct coaches on athletic/team budgets, supervise student fee collection, and report on budget items. 
  • Maintain athletic inventory for all teams; supervise coaches’ management of school resources, items, and materials.
  • Coordinates with academic administration and other offices at Amplus Academy to provide support services for events, students, transportation, community communication, etc. 
  • Direct and conduct athletic meetings at staff meetings, parent meetings, coaches meetings, and as needed as school leadership. 
  • Coordinate with the Operations team, academic administration team, and other offices to coordinate facilities, facility maintenance, security, and transportation, both in-house and with outside organizations (i.e. police, bus companies, other schools, community partners).
  • Assist in managing the gym space for outside groups. 
  • Revise and maintain the Athletic Procedures Manual.
  • Manage school social media for athletics; supervises team social media accounts (to include any/all approved communication tools).
  • Maintain accessibility and communication for school administration and coaching staff at all times; 
  • Cultivate a positive environment for the Amplus Academy community.
  • Complete other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with Google programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or related software
  • Self-starter, proactive
  • Financial and budgetary experience with athletic programs

 

Education and Experience:

  • Required completion of NFHS coaching courses and CPR certification
  • Required State of Nevada Substitute Teaching License; Nevada Teaching License preferred; Administrative (Educational or Athletic) License preferred
  • Master’s in Educational Administration or Athletic Administration recommended
  • At least five (5) years of successful licensed school/classroom/teaching experience in an accredited K-12 public or private school preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a manager/leader/administrator in an accredited K-12 public or private school preferable in the field of Athletics preferred

  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; ability to occasionally restrain or move up to 50-100 pounds if required to intervene during student safety issues.
  • This type of work requires occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or reaching for extended periods of time.
  • This type of work requires occasional or frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling during crisis scenarios such as hard lockdowns, earthquake drills, etc.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area.
  • Ability to operate, activate and use a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
  • Employees in this classification may be subject to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, high noise levels, and various work related hazards such as bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
