Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Secondary Assistant Principal, the Secondary (7th- 12th grade) Video Production CTE Teacher will implement daily student instruction based on an educational curriculum designed to meet State of Nevada as well as federal standards for students at Amplus Academy. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning while delivering a high-quality career and technical education program in video production for our students. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in all aspects of video production, a deep understanding of industry standards, and the ability to inspire and mentor students to develop the creative and technical skills necessary for future success in media arts and related fields. This teacher will be responsible for curriculum development, instruction, assessment, and fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Pending a full schedule of classes, this position may also include classes that support the character development program for Amplus Academy students.
The teacher will be expected to adhere to Amplus Academy’s professional standards as well as Nevada Department of Education licensure standards. Amplus Academy is a classical education charter school located in the southwest area of Las Vegas. Amplus Academy has two campuses serving Kindergarten- 12th grade students.
Terms of Employment: 10-month per Contract of Employment (180 Day Calendar)
Salary: The compensation for this position is in alignment with the Amplus Governing Board approved Salary Schedule; Salary Schedule based on years’ experience, licensure and degree held. Compensation for all positions are determined by the Governing Board and Administration of Amplus Academy. Consideration is given for experience and specialized skills in determining salary.
Salary Range: $50,840- $80,000 with 100% Employer Paid PERS
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive video production curriculum aligned with Nevada CTE standards and industry best practices.
- Deliver engaging and hands-on instruction in areas such as pre-production (scriptwriting, storyboarding, planning), production (camera operation, lighting, sound recording), and post-production (editing, motion graphics, visual effects).
- Integrate relevant software and technology into the curriculum
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Incorporate project-based learning and real-world applications into lessons.
- Manages student fees, school budget, and/or grant monies awarded appropriately to continuing development of program, including the participation in SkillsUSA competitions and conferences in and out of state
- Monitors and maintains equipment inventory for video production
- Ensures the opportunity for students to learn in a positive, supportive environment
- Develops a classroom climate that promotes positive learning
- Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance
- Attend professional development and continuing education for professional practice improvement
- Analyzes student progress and provides appropriate instruction
- Discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students and parents as they arise
- Monitors students’ progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for graduation, vocational school, or college, as appropriate
- Collaborates with guidance counselors to help students develop post-secondary plans including college or vocational school
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with school and state laws and policies
- Communicates progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or principal
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents
- Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
- Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records
- Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff
- Participates in faculty meetings, Professional Learning Communities, and service requirements per the employee contract
- Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in secondary education
- Participates in the CTE committees and assists in CTSO (Career Tech Student Organizations) to build CTE programming at Amplus Academy; in partnership with the CTE Coordinator, builds relationships with community partners.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of the pedagogy and best practices of education
- Desire to teach Secondary (7th- 12th grade) school-aged children and ability to adapt to their developmental status
- The ability to design lessons that teach in an engaging manner and guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Classroom or related software
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and Nevada Teaching License or out of state license with the ability to transfer license to Nevada required; Business and Industry Licensure approved
- Applicable CTE endorsement based on classes taught
- Knowledge and experience in video production required
- Prior teaching or career experience (2 years ) preferred
- Specialized training in teaching junior high and high school-aged children is preferred
