The Automation Sales Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to customers, building strong relationships and providing strategic automation solutions. Each manager will be responsible for a specific geographic region and key accounts, ensuring long-term business growth and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and expand the sales pipeline through cold calling, networking, and in-person customer visits, with a focus on automation and robotics solutions.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with customers to drive long-term business growth.
- Collaborate with customers to identify automation and robotics needs and develop strategic solutions that optimize both customer and company value.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, with a focus on profitable growth in the automation and robotics product lines.
- Gather market intelligence on automation and robotics trends and share insights with the team.
- Qualify new opportunities, projects, and applications to ensure profitability and scalability of solutions.
- Partner closely with the service team to ensure 100% customer satisfaction and seamless implementation of automation solutions.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and networking events within the automation and robotics industry.
- Continuously develop relationships with new and existing customers, expanding the company's presence in key markets.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced sales team members, enhancing their knowledge of automation and robotics solutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Business, Food Science) is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in selling automation, robotics, or capital equipment solutions, with a proven track record of success in the industry.
- Strong understanding of automation systems, robotics, and integration processes, particularly in food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Excellent listening skills, with the ability to understand and address customer needs in the automation and robotics space.
- Energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed in a competitive industry.
- PC Skills:
- Proficient in CRM tools (Salesforce preferred)
- Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- AutoCad Inventor or other CAD experience required
- Other Skills:
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from maintenance teams to senior management.
- Strong self-management skills with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience navigating long sales cycles and managing complex sales processes in the automation industry.
- Sales training (e.g., Miller Heiman, SPIN, Prime Diagnostic, etc.) is a plus.
- This position requires a minimum of 25% travel to support customer relationships and business development efforts.
- The physical demands of this role include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, handle or manipulate objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to talk and hear, lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
