Job Summary
Our Labor and Delivery Training Unit is looking for new RN's or Nurses with alternative experience who want to embark on an exciting career into Labor and Delivery. WE WILL TRAIN YOU FROM ANY SPECIALITY OR UNIT and give you all of the tools that you will need to grow and excel. Our Labor and Delivery Nurse will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and positive birth experiences.
Position Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the health status of mothers and newborns.
- Monitor vital signs and fetal heart rates throughout labor to identify any potential complications.
- Provide education and support to families regarding the labor process, pain management options, and postpartum care.
- Assist in the delivery process by preparing necessary equipment and supplies while ensuring a sterile environment.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) therapy when necessary.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (EHR) according to hospital policies.
- Participate in family planning discussions as needed, providing resources for future reproductive health.
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities within a teaching hospital setting.
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, obstetricians, perinatologists, anesthesiologists, IBCLC lactation consultants, OB techs and patient care staff, you will support supporting the mother and her partner through the labor process.
- You will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and much more.
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
- 1 year Hospital Acute Care experieince preferred.

Pay: $38.00 - $48.00 per hour
