The role we are looking to fill is a Header Operator position on our Taylor, MI team. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up and operating machines that perform multi-operations.
- Performing first-piece inspections using optical inspection equipment or equivalent measurement tools.
- Adjusting controls to synchronize machine actions for various operations on customized jobs.
- Reading and understanding tool layouts and part progressions.
- Developing set-ups and prototyping new parts.
- Collaborating with other workers on machine setups and operational specifications.
- Observing operations to detect machine malfunctions and verify setups conform to specifications.
- Measuring and inspecting formed parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
- Using blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
- Positioning and moving workpieces through dies to form impressions.
- Adjusting wedges and brass settings to set pressures and depths of ram strokes.
- Repairing, maintaining, and replacing tooling when worn, broken, or out of print.
- Removing tooling from machines when production runs are finished.
- Using overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand trucks to bring and remove supplies as needed.
- Recording quality information using measuring instruments.
- Training on the first shift before moving to the 2nd shift.
