Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive, Cold Form & Finishing, business unit is seeking a Die Finisher. The primary function of this position is to perform deburring, polishing (4 micro) and finish sizing of header tooling. This area works to assure accuracy and quality control. Manage and verify the accuracy of finished product, as well as support processes and product development.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Polishing and finishing: Use hand tools, polishing wheels, abrasives, and other tools to polish and finish tools, dies, molds, and metal parts to meet specified surface quality standards.
- Inspection: Inspect tools and die for defects, wear, and dimensional accuracy before and after polishing. Identify areas needing attention and make corrections as necessary.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on polishing equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of Materials: Understanding different metals and their properties, especially regarding how they respond to polishing and finishing processes.
- Verify the quality of the finished product by inspecting them and measuring their dimensions.
- Repairs or replaces machine parts to maintain machine in operational condition
- Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, such as utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required.
- Ability to regularly stand or work for long periods of time.
- Ability to regularly lift/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift to fifty (50) pounds.
- While performing the job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing and/or pulling.
- Ability to endure heat.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly uses both manual and powered hand tools, (electric and/or air powered).
