ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive, Cold Form & Finishing, business unit is seeking a 1st shift Shipping Coordinator to prepare documentation, maintain records, and coordinate logistics for project shipment. They are also responsible for routing incoming and outgoing communication regarding freight shipments and transportation needs. Coordinators also process shipping and receiving reports by entering data into spreadsheets and databases.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Putting away brake pistons using FIFO
- Working closely with drivers in center pay to pull product for them to deliver to CNCs. (Close coordination.)
- Alerting Belleville of how many containers of each piston needed to fill Kan Ban levels.
- Returning "Kettering" style tubs to Belleville.
- Receiving raw material (coil) using FIFO
- Receiving material in SMS
- Receiving customer product using FIFO
- Receiving product in SMS
- Returning empty gray tubs
- Pulling product that is running in Reroll to eliminate operators from stopping equipment to pull material.
- Loading coil on headers (as time permits.
- Directing operation of the SEMS packaging.
- Working closely with Materials Manager on priorities for high volume customers.
- Prepare documentation, maintain records, coordinate logistics for product shipment.
- Ensures freight forwarders are selected based on company objectives for cost and delivery.
- Maintains shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information to customers on request.
- Prepares shipping paperwork as well as completes shipping transactions in appropriate systems.
- Completes the "Return Goods" paperwork and verifies receipt for all returned products.
- Prepare boxes with appropriate labels for shipment as required.
- Communicates status of shipping/Receiving activities to Materials Manager. May assist in training new hires in the shipping department.
- Review open customer orders, create pick worksheets on an as needed basis to efficiently meet the customer shipping schedule and satisfy the requested ship dates.
- Follow all shipping practices/procedures, such as FIFO, stock rotation and lot control.
- Coordinate the shipping volumes and priorities closely with the Materials Manager to optimize available resources.
- Shop rates for prepaid shipments to ensure that we are getting the best possible freight rates.
- Participation in transportation related projects.
- Must be able to work a normal 7am - 5pm workday as well as the ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies, and practices, such as utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.
