Description
The Tool Room Specialist will be responsible for compliance with the company’s safety, environmental and personal growth standards. Additionally, will be experienced in machining tasks within the tool room, as well as, participating in tool, fixture and other tool making room activities under direct supervision. Experience using Mastercam software and programming.
Responsibilities:
- Safety: Demonstrates awareness of safety requirements in assigned work areas and wears appropriate PPE for assigned work. Operates all machines with appropriate guards/shields in place.
- Quality: Completes raw material inspection and preparation for tool room use. Inspects completed parts to drawing requirements with appropriate measurement tools. Achieves dimensional requirements of specialized parts with limited rework. Performs this work with limited oversight.
- Production: Independently operates tool room manual and CNC machine groups as assigned and completes setups and operation cycles independently. Completes assigned work within hours estimated by tool room supervisor.
- Continuous Improvement: Contributes to ongoing process improvements at machine centers and in assembly cells by creative tool and fixture problem solving. Participates in the maintenance and upkeep of assigned machine groups to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plan.
- Training: Accepts training and coaching from supervision.
- Environment: Participates in environmentally appropriate workplace maintenance habits, including 5S.
Requirements:
- 3 years of previous machining and programming experience or equivalent approved training combination required.
- High School Diploma/GED or international equivalent required.
- Capability to read and to interpret complex mechanical drawings and perform basic mathematical tasks to evaluate compliance to dimensional standards.
- Specialized knowledge of tools and fixtures.
- General knowledge of CNC and manual machine setup and operation.
- Previous experience in CNC programming and machine operation is highly valued.
- General dexterity and proficiency in handling complex machine setup tasks.
- Capable to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, including tolerance and part inspection.
- Capability to use hand tools safely
- Capability to operate power tools safely, as assigned.
- Special Process Qualifications, as-required (welding, machining, toolmaking, etc.)
- English language proficiency required. Spanish, Polish or Arabic proficiency beneficial.
- Competence in reading blueprints/drawings for fabricated parts
- CAD/CAM software, ability to read technical drawings, and attention to detail
