What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving Operator position at Amsted Rail Company?
POSITION SUMMARY
Verifies and keeps historical records of incoming materials and outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment by performing the tasks, in accordance with quality and productivity standards, outlined for Amsted Rail Standard Work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Adhere to safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements, defined by Amsted Rail; outlined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program.
- Operate forklifts or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
- Load and unload trucks and determine safe ways of stacking items on the truck and retrieving items in a safe manner.
- Receive incoming shipments and compare items and quantities to the packing list.
- Record damaged or defective items and replace them according to company policies.
- Review work orders to determine order picking activities and pick orders according to the specific instructions provided.
- Verify that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and that correlating documents are available with each shipment.
- Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of material movement through SAP.
- Verify all shipping/receiving paperwork is provided to the coordinator.
- Monitor the movement of materials and ingredients.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklift equipment and safely operate a forklift within the guidelines of the Amsted Rail Forklift Certification program.
- Operate PB crimp tools, including diagnosis, repair and processing.
- Operate the stretch wrap banders for product pack out and print shipping labels for outbound customer shipments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally, wear required PPE and be able to stand, move throughout shift.
