What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer II position at Amsted?
Amsted Automotive Group, SMW Manufacturing, Taylor, Michigan, is looking for a Process Engineer to use technical knowledge and industry expertise to support new program launches with the Cold Form and Finishing group.
What You'll Do
Responsible for attending APQP team meeting for new programs as assigned by Process Engineering Manager.
Attending and contributing to new part design reviews.
Cold Forming Progressing review and approval.
Cold Forming Layout design and approval.
Cold form detail drawing review and approval for fit, function.
Submitting approved requisition to purchasing department for submission of purchase orders.
Managing tooling vendors on delivery of tooling to ensure timelines are met. Report on any issues that would jeopardize the timing of new launch.
Work with tool-crib on receiving and storage location for new part crib setup.
Pull all tooling from crib required for new job setup. Work with toolroom on new pallet assemble.
Verify and document all sizes of tooling after assembly. Ensure tooling meets print and tooling pallet complete and ready to go to production floor.
Setup meeting with production review all layouts with operators and production managers prior to setup.
Have available to operators all layouts and progression prints and tool setting on tooling pallet.
Work with production manager / plant on timing to support operator on development.
Help operator set up for adjustments tooling modifications to get to a part to buyout submission.
Record in the development book any changes / alterations to tooling made during development.
Manage first development runoff with operator and submit PPAP samples to quality for approval.
Submit tooling development book back to design engineering for all print changes.
Pull any tooling from inventory for rework or scrap if changes have been made during development.
Updated BOM and revisions in Synergy / SAP.
Review tooling min / max set for first production run at rate.
Work with production tooling coordinator for ordering tooling for first production run as rate.
Monitor first production run with plant and tooling usage.
Monitor process performance and initiate action for hand off the plant level engineering.
Ensure that production processes are worked out under the set budget.
Added duties as assigned by the supervisor, not otherwise specified in this position description.
Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, such as utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.
What Else You'll Need to Know
Ability to regularly stand or work for long periods of time.
Ability to regularly lift / or move up to five (5) pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to twenty (20) pounds, and occasionally lift up to forty (40) pounds.
Occasional walking throughout the day.
Travel as required to support new launches at all the CFF forming locations.
