We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our accounting team. This position focuses on cost management, QuickBooks oversight, and expertise in payroll and accounts payable processes. The Senior Cost Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance, and drive process improvements within the accounting department. This is a hands-on role that requires managing day-to-day accounting functions while contributing to the organization's strategic financial goals. Key Responsibilities : Monitor, analyze, and report on payroll, accounts payable, and financial operations costs. Perform variance analysis, develop budgets, and recommend cost-saving measures. Manage job costing systems, ensuring accurate allocation and tracking of expenses. Utilize QuickBooks for accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting. Oversee system updates, data accuracy, and process automation to improve efficiency. Supervise accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and vendor account reconciliation. Process payroll accurately, complying with tax laws and preparing required filings (941s, 1099s, W-2s). Handle payroll-related audits, certified documentation, and job costing. Ensure compliance with tax laws, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and review financial reports, including quarterly and annual tax filings. Manage sales and property tax transactions and implement regulatory updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in cost accounting, payroll, and accounts payable roles. Hands-on expertise in QuickBooks and advanced proficiency in Excel. Strong knowledge of payroll protocols, including IRS regulations, federal and state labor laws, and tax compliance. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
