What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level Traffic Design Engineer position at AMT Engineering?
AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Traffic Design Engineer to join our growing Carolinas Traffic & Smart Mobility Team in one of our Carolinas offices in either Charleston, SC, Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on exciting projects not just within the Carolinas area, but across the Southeast US. This position offers a mix of traffic engineering and analysis while also engaging in transportation design work.

\n- Assistance with traffic design, including signals, lighting, CCTV, and other ITS devices
- Assisting with signal system interconnects and ITS electrical analysis
- Traffic signal optimization and retiming
- Traffic equipment research, testing, and experimentation in our in-house traffic equipment lab
- Transit-related traffic engineering
- Traffic analysis and safety studies
- Traffic equipment inspection
- BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or currently in school earning a BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Other ABET-accredited Engineering degrees are acceptable with experience or interest in the field of Traffic Technology and Design
- Engineer Intern/Engineering-in-Training (EI/EIT) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of graduation
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally across all modern media is required;
- Prior internship or work experience preferred, experience with Municipal or State Department of Transportation projects a plus
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads is preferred
- Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
- Synchro, SimTraffic, and/or VISSIM experience is a plus
- Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Foreign language fluency is a plus
- A specific interest in Traffic Signals and/or Traffic Technology is required.
