Entry Level Transportation Engineer

AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation team of design professionals in our Charlotte, NC office.

In addition to supporting projects in their assigned office, the candidate may be involved with other AMT offices and project opportunities.

• Support a variety of projects which may involve the collection of data, assessing existing conditions, and alternative evaluation -analysis for engineering reports developed for NCDOT as well as local Municipalities

• Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, perform template drops and develop a 3D model of roadways, cut cross-sections, calculate super-elevation, produce transportation infrastructure plans, and calculate quantities for highway projects

• Ability to assist other AMT offices with highway design

• Development of Work Zone Traffic Control Plans (WZTC), Signing, and Pavement Marking Plans

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Engineering-in-Training Certification (or ability to obtain in 6-12 months) preferred
• Prior internship or work experience preferred, experience with Municipal or North Carolina Department of Transportation projects is a plus
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads Designer (ORD) is preferred
• Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
• Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
