AMT Inc., has an immediate opening for a Casting Inspector in our Sharon Springs, NY facility.
The position is full-time hourly on our day shift. The position is primarily responsible for the visual inspection of castings per applicable specifications and work instructions. Inspector is responsible for defect identification and determining the acceptance or rejection of a casting based on specific inspection criteria.
Candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Investment casting experience is not required; however, anyone with a previous background with product inspection, non-destructive testing, quality assurance, manufacturing, or operations is encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Engineering to ensure timely and accurate inspection of daily production.
- Perform daily visual inspection and verification of final inventory count.
- Perform quality functions such as hardness testing, part gaging, and sorting.
- Provide rework instructions to Operations.
- Enter accepted and rejected part quantities to ERP system.
- Accurately complete process control sheet sign offs.
- Follow inspection requirements per stated inspection criteria such as AMS2175 or other applicable specifications.
- Work to a defined inspection schedule based on customer ship date requirements.
- Support Operations by cross-training and performing other tasks as needed.
- Ensure previous operations have been signed off, quantities and scrap amounts recorded, and piece count accurate.
- Assure compliance to AS9100 inspection procedures and processes.
Qualifications
- Understand and interpret work instructions, specifications, and inspection criteria
- Strong attention to detail and count accuracy
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and process a large volume of parts
- Ability to work alone for prolonged periods with minimal supervision
- Excellent people skills and attitude.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Proactive and self-starter.
- Team player and ability to work with other departments within the organization.
- Ability to use ERP systems and PC based software packages.
- Understanding of the use of calipers and gages
- Ability to pass the Jaeger vision test and the Ishihara color vision test
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
