Position Information
Overall Responsibility:
The Process Engineering Manager (PEM) is responsible for bringing together all of the individual components of the new product launch quotation process. The PEM will be the point person who will provide linkage between operations and commercial teams. Primary functions will be to work with the Die Engineering team for stamping tools, Advanced Engineering team for weld tooling and equipment, and the Operational team for the entire manufacturing process flow. The PEM will provide support and leadership to ensure that the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process is followed and target dates are met for each quality gate. Communication between internal and external suppliers, operations, maintenance, and quality is critical to the overall success of AMTB.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain a common capacity model for all welding and processing equipment throughout the regions.
- Engage each production facility with regular APQP meetings and manage the flow of quoting through launch.
- Follow production standards from quote to launch. Ensure that each product is capable of meeting the planned cycle time and can achieve the quoted machine OEE.
- Determine a basic set of guidelines for cost tooling. Ensure there is available production capacity.
- Assess plant and customer logistics to determine the manufacturing site for all new products.
- Manage the flow of customer-initiated engineering changes.
- Validate cycle times of each part number by process.
- Ensure that any and all Long Term Agreements "LTA's" are clearly understood by each operational site and can be achieved through year-over-year process improvement.
- Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE.
- Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
- Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
- Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Requirements, and Personal Traits:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or product launch management, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong background in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes and quality gate requirements.
- Experience with stamping, welding, and tooling processes, including knowledge of die and weld equipment engineering.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
- Understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and certifications, such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or similar.
Personal Skills:
- Proven ability to lead and mentor diverse teams effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to identify and resolve process challenges.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, quality, and commercial teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to achieve results
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process flows, including stamping and welding operations.
- Familiarity with costing and quotation processes for new product launches.
- Ability to interpret and analyze technical drawings and specifications.
