SUMMARY

Ensures all processes, equipment and supporting systems operate to their maximum effectiveness, within specified safety and cost constraints, and that all products are of the desired quality. Determines and implements corrective actions to improve processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review customer drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
  • Work alongside the manufacturing teams to ensure that overall quality, delivery and cost objectives are achieved
  • Lead manufacturing readiness review process to communicate manufacturing plans and processes to internal cross functional teams
  • Provide technical guidance and liaison to manufacturing and test engineering while assisting supervisors on new techniques to determine cause of rejected products
  • Create manufacturing plans and detailed work instructions
  • Provide redlines and / or updates Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor or in Aegis
  • Specifies all necessary special processes, equipment, and fixtures required for manufacturing on assigned programs
  • Continuously works to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency and product quality.
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects
  • Assist in tool design when required to help support manufacturing by developing tooling concepts and use of CAD software
  • Monitor quality discrepancies, identifies trends, and investigates problems and implements corrective actions
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPI) for trends and process improvement
  • Provide labor cost estimates for quotation purposes
  • Select and quote suitable equipment as needed for production and process improvement purposes
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

  • Ability to read, interpret and develop documents, instructions, operation manuals, safety rules, etc.
  • Must have interpersonal and language skills necessary to deal with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to write and understand basic reports relating to this department.
  • EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION

  • Ability to communicate with outside suppliers, customers, and contractors.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics / electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience manufacturing PCBAs, SMT processes, SMT programming, cables and sub-assemblies in contract manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Military & Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels within the organization and with external customers.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand technical English with a high degree of proficiency.
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Understand 6S and Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
  • REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to resolve complex problems and manage multiple tasks given in written and oral form.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • IPC-A-610 certificate is a plus.
  • J-STD-001 certificate is a plus.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must have good hand / eye coordination.
  • Must have 20 / 20 visual acuity with or without glasses and color vision.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to moderate noise level on the production floor.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and hot parts.
