Technician II
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform skilled work in the installation, routine maintenance, and repair of Information Technology System cabling and system devices/headend. Work is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion by a Telecommunication Project Manager or RCDD.
Technician I responsibilities, along with the following:
Cable Pathways
Install cabling support – J Hooks
Installation of surface mount raceway, cable tray, conduit sleeves
Cabling
Install, Terminate, Test and Certify:
- ITS infrastructure
- Copper – modules, patch panels, 66 blocks and 110 blocks
- Fiber
- Access and Intrusion
- Closed Circuit TV (CCTV)
- Cable TV (CATV)
- Paging
System Installation
Card Access
- Install and terminate devices
System Installation
Camera – Analog and IP
- Install and terminate devices
System Installation
Paging
- Install and terminate speakers and horns
- Head End Installation
- Program and Certify System
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Manufacturer certifications based on Amteck partner certifications
Knowledge of:
- The use of hand and power tools used for the installation, maintenance and repair of ITS cabling and systems.
- The use of electronic test equipment.
- ANSI/TIA/EIA standards
Ability to:
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Work independently without supervision.
- Communicate orally in the English language with customers, clients, or the public in face-to-face, one-on-one settings or using a telephone.
- Observe or monitor objects to determine compliance with operating and safety standards.
