SUMMARY OF DUTIES :

The Director, Financial Planning leads a team of financial analyst tasked with providing financial analysis and reporting in support of Amtrak’s consolidated results. This position will partner with Finance business support teams to understand and report operating results to senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders to help execute Amtrak’s financial goals.

This position is expected to serve as a positive role model and to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to Amtrak’s departments and an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Primarily, the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis must fulfill the needs of Amtrak in a manner which is consistent with the Amtrak’s core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Own, lead and improve all financial planning and analysis functions, processes, and deliverables, including budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, reporting, monthly close support, variance analysis, presentations, etc.
• Participate and support the development and management of Amtrak’s annual plan, 5-year plan and monthly forecasts.
• Translate outputs of financial analysis into meaningful insights for executive level management, the Board, congress, FRA, and any other pertinent constituents.
• Function as liaison between finance business support and Finance leadership to deliver regular and timely reporting, financial analysis, insight, and commentary to senior leadership in support of decision making to driving strategic initiatives.

The salary / hourly range is $163,000-$211,140. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and / or long-term incentive plan compensation.
