SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Red Caps are required to provide wheelchair service for disabled and/or handicapped passengers. They are also required to provide arm assistance to blind individuals to and from the trains. Passengers will be assisted in the movement of their personal luggage or parcels within this station or station facilities. Red Caps will be conversant with the procedure governing the issuance of Red Cap Check NRPC Form 313. Must be knowledgeable of the physical aspects of this station. Must be familiar with schedules and check all customer tickets and be able to comprehend same. Must deal with the public in a courteous manner. Will perform other duties as may be assigned. Employee must conform to Amtrak’s Standards of Excellence and prescribed code of dress. A high school education with two (2) years of college or business equivalent is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be fully capable of operating commercial vehicles and mechanized equipment. Must have a valid Operator’s license.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Prefer two years experience in a service-oriented position.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must conform to Amtrak’s Standards of Excellence and prescribed code of dress.
