What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Aid - Non Medical Emergency position at AmTran Medical Transport, Inc.?
CANDIDATE MUST BE OKAY WITH BEING A DRIVER AND/OR AN AID.
THE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK EITHER POSITION AS NEEDED.
Summary:
Provide the transportation of patient/clients to and from group facilities, convalescent facilities, rehabilitation centers, medical offices, other locations as needed and back to their private residences or facilities in a safe, secure, and professional manner. Patients can be adults or children.
Employees hired into this position are subject to a three-month introductory probationary period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives & Transports patients/clients utilizing company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
- Communicates effectively with dispatch/management regarding schedule progress and to receive instructions.
- Maintains a professional image and attitude in regard to client, business, and co-workers.
- Completes daily vehicle pre-trip vehicle inspection and maintains vehicle cleanliness.
- Performs general vehicle maintenance and communicates vehicle service needs to Fleet Manager.
- Assists patient/clients as needed to safely complete the transfer.
- Documents any complaints or safety incidents with management immediately.
- Complies with all HIPPA, State traffic laws and established Company safety and operational protocols.
- Assists with interoffice office tasks and cleaning duties.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meet or exceed minimum age requirement of 21 years old and/or be approve by insurance provider if under 21.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with proven good driving record. No more than a 3 driver point balance.
- Must be able pass a mandatory criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
- Must be able to operate mobile smart phone, GPS systems & various phone apps.
- Ability to supervise, assist, and work with children daily.
- Must have ability to read and understand written addresses, names, & special instructions for transportation.
- Must understand and follow instructions both written and spoken.
- Must be physically able to step up and down steps, safely secure clients for transport, and lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Ability to read and interpret local maps.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding client care, Company operations and other customer service issues.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize personal computer systems.
- Demonstrated ability to represent Amtran and other team members as a professional.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, stand, or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
Working conditions are normal for office and NEMT field environment. Work may require frequent weekend and evening work. Due to the nature of NEMT working conditions, employees may be exposed to inclement weather, potentially hazardous conditions, psychological stressors, diseases, and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure, difficult personalities and irregularities in work schedule are expected. Employee is subject to continually changing deadlines, while performing the duties of this job. The employee will be occasionally required to attend meetings, some of which may take place outside of regular working hours. The employee will occasionally go for periods of time without food or breaks, as determined by call load.
