What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Aid/Driver position at AmTran Medical Transport, Inc.?
Summary:
With general supervision, assist with transportation needs of children. Perform a variety of functions related to the special needs of children being transported and to do other related work as assigned. Assist driver with loading and unloading patients; supervise patients while riding company vehicles, attending to any special needs that may occur on the vehicle including behavior management; cleaning up student spills; working with parents, teachers, instructional aides, and drivers to meet the needs of the patients; administering first aid if needed.
Employees hired into this position are subject to a three-month introductory probationary period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the transports of patients/clients in company vehicles in a safe, calm, and professional manner.
- Communicates effectively with dispatch/management regarding schedule progress and to receive instructions.
- Maintains a professional image and attitude in regard to client, business, and co-workers.
- Performs any necessary duties to provide a safe environment for all patients/clients.
- Communicates vehicle service needs to Fleet Manager.
- Assist in keeping company vehicles clean and tidy for each transport.
- Assists patient/clients as needed to safely complete the transfer.
- Documents any complaints or safety incidents with management immediately.
- Complies with all HIPPA and established Company safety and operational protocols.
- Assists with interoffice tasks and cleaning duties.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meet or exceed minimum age requirement of 21 years old.
- Must be able pass a mandatory criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
- Ability to supervise, assist, and work with children daily.
- CPR Certified.
- Must have ability to read and understand written addresses, names, & special instructions for transportation.
- Must understand and follow instructions both written and spoken.
- Must be physically able to step up and down steps, safely secure clients for transport, and lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Ability to read and interpret local maps.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding client care, Company operations and other customer service issues.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize personal computer systems.
- Demonstrated ability to represent Amtran and other team members as an professional.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, stand, or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
Working conditions are normal for office and NEMT field environment. Work may require frequent weekend and evening work. Due to the nature of NEMT working conditions, employees may be exposed to inclement weather, potentially hazardous conditions, psychological stressors, diseases, and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure, difficult personalities and irregularities in work schedule are expected. Employee is subject to continually changing deadlines, while performing the duties of this job. The employee will be occasionally required to attend meetings, some of which may take place outside of regular working hours. The employee will occasionally go for periods of time without food or breaks, as determined by call load.
