Maintenance B - 3rd Shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Assures proper running of all equipment having to do with mechanical, electrical, plumbing,

     hydraulic, pneumatic, welding, cutting, programmable computers, etc., by:

1. Observing potential problems and trying to control them before they happen.
2. Performing preventive maintenance on all equipment.  Schedules maintenance time with

              the Production Manager so that as little down time as necessary lapses.

1. When problems do develop, fix, repair or replace as quickly as possible.
2. Lubes and maintains equipment on a scheduled basis (certain shifts only).
3. Oversees building maintenance by:
4. Fixing, repairing or replacing equipment, building structure or grounds as time allows.
5. If unable to do work in-house, contracts to have outside contractors perform the work, i.e.,

              getting quotes, seeing that the job is done right, etc.  Work may include plumbing, plastering,

              concrete work, lawn work, etc.

1. Responsible for taking care of the inside and outside sprinkler system.
2. Performs safety checks and may need to help write procedures.
3. Sets up, and sometimes makes, machine guards.
4. Helps set up new manufacturing machines and building equipment.
5. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the boiler, any mechanical and plumbing needs.
6. Keeps inventory of supplies, i.e., oil, pipe fittings, nuts and bolts, etc. Orders supplies as needed – if

     applicable.

1. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
2. Other job duties as assigned by supervisor or group leader.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:  Statistical Process Control and Problem Solving Training.  Must be able to get certified in Press Safety.

TYPICAL MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT INVOLVED:  Chrome and Zinc Platers, Automated and Punch Presses, Welders, Boilers, Pumps, Transfers, Derailers, Hoists, Robotic Welder, Rectifiers, Robotics, etc.

TOOLS AND GAGES:  All mechanical hand tools, almost all forms of gages and meters (calibers, protractors, volt meters), plumbing tools, grinders, lathes, drills and mills.

TYPICAL PRODUCTS INVOLVED:  All electrical and mechanical equipment, oils, greases, solvents, paints and chemicals.

METHOD OF JOB ASSIGNMENT:  Verbal and written.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to learn Statistical Process Control, Linear Measuring and Problem Solving Training.  Must obtain certification in Press Safety.  Math and ability to read blueprints mandatory; must have a good understanding of electrical blueprints.  Flexibility and ability to prioritize are important.  Previous experience as a Maintenance B or equivalent experience mandatory (suggested 1-2 years).  Some background in programmable controls helpful.  Proficient computer skills is a plus.

Non-essential physical tasks may include the following:  Driving, Filing, Folding & Unfolding, Maintaining, Sweeping, Stapling, Turning Pages, Weighing and Writing.

*Note:   Some physical functions vary slightly in importance from plant to plant and shift to shift

             depending on the machines they work on.
