Job Summary:
Provide technical expertise to the enhancement of manufacturing capabilities and processes to produce quality products at the most competitive price. Develop mechanical design and redesign, cell, and facility layout. Enhanced focus on finishing systems and decoration prep systems, specifically automated and hand polishing applications of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop plans to successfully complete the projects in a timely and cost-effective manner by assuring all required information from customers, engineering, tooling, quality and production are considered in the planning stages. Cellular ownership of processes to drive enhanced finishes at optimal cost through pre-polish (laser), rework, automated, and hand polishing systems.
- Maintain process parameters and adjust as required.
- Assist in the cost estimating and quoting of new and/or revised products and methods by initiating the quote according to specifications, determining process methods, the equipment required and optimum rates.
- Responsible for mechanical design and redesign, including equipment and machinery. Responsible for testing and trialing new consumables and methods to drive optimal cost, quality, and operational through-put in these systems
- Lead in the identification and implementation of effective solutions that will improve the manufacturing process and capabilities. Develop and redesign facility layouts in support of this objective. Promote continuous process improvements. Develop schedules and expectations for perishable items within cells.
- Assist in the resolution of production problems by acting as a troubleshooter on all the existing processes at the assigned facility and/or department as need arises; supervisor will notify.
- Develop and maintain all supporting documents of activities in an organized manner for easy retrieval for review and consideration. Develop rates and expectations to materials and processes and communicate adjustments and/or changes.
- Develop and implement employee training on new processes and equipment with documentation to assure optimum operation and employee safety.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in an Engineering or technical discipline; minimum of three to five years related experience, depending on level; or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
