Overview
As an Associate Coverage Attorney, you are an internal resource for the Claims Department in making coverage determinations for workers compensation and liability claims submitted under policies for which AmTrust North America is the claims administrator. The role entails providing guidance to claim adjusters, supervisors and managers concerning coverage for claims under policies as well as reviewing coverage position letters prior to issuance. Additionally, an Associate Coverage Attorney works with claims and outside coverage counsel to manage coverage litigation. The Associate Coverage Attorney position maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values along with upholding the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Responsibilities
Provide coverage analysis to the Claims Department
- Give guidance on additional investigation that may be required to resolve coverage issues
- Communicate with underwriting for policy issue clarification
- Inform concerning jurisdictional nuances
- Review and recommend appropriate revisions to coverage position letters drafted by claims adjusters prior to issuance;
- Make referrals to and communicate with outside coverage counsel;
- Review, analyze and provide recommendations to Claims based on outside counsel opinions
- Communicate and strategize with Claims concerning settlement of underlying claims for which coverage issues exist
- Review and analyze substantive documents / reports drafted by outside coverage counsel - complaints, answers, initial case evaluations, initial discovery disclosures, deposition summaries, pre-trial reports;
- Ensure timely filing and reporting by outside coverage counsel;
- Strategize with Claims concerning development / direction of coverage litigation;
Qualifications
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $155,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future. Durning the interview process, yours skills, abilities and technical knowledge will be evaluated to determine the correct job level.
