Senior Pricing Data Scientist

If so, AmTrust is looking to add a talented experienced Data Scientist to their growing Data Science & AI Team with specific commercial insurance pricing experience. As an experienced Pricing Data Scientist, you will lead projects and unveil insights in our data that will allow us to improve our pricing and underwriting decision-making process both at an operational and strategic level. You will use the latest machine learning algorithms to develop predictive models to help us assess risks more accurately, , price more effectively and understand and serve our customers more thoroughly.

Qualified applicants would have an MA/MSC/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics or other quantitative field, and at least 5 years' experience in the following skill areas:

Developing and implementing loss cost models, retention, conversion, and any other relevant pricing models for commercial insurance
• Knowledge and familiarity with embedding into the model and pricing applications various 3rd party commercial insurance data sources
• Filing of predictive models and pricing structures across the different states
• Python and R
• Machine learning algorithms (i.e. GLM, Boosting, Deep Learning, etc...)
• Model performance measures and validation techniques (i.e. K-fold cross-validation, train/test split, etc...)
• SQL and relational databases (both transactional and analytical environments)
• Deploying predictive models into production
• Collaborative development and version control systems (i.e. Git)
• Strong leadership capabilities and great working relationships with different stakeholders
• Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
• Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
• Excellent attention to detail

Bonus points for experience in:

• FCAS or ACAS accreditation
• Management experience in leading a team of highly qualified Data Scientists
• Familiarity with cloud environments and services
• Consulting background
• Developing effective monitoring of implemented pricing strategies
• Experience with supporting other business functions (e.g. Loss control, Operations, Marketing, Claims)
• Unix-like operating systems and comfort in the shell environment (i.e. Bash)
• Deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch and associated high-level API's like Keras
• numpy, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib
• dplyr, data.table, ggplot2
• Web-application development (Javascript, Node, Flask, Shiny, etc.)
• Web-scraping
