Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Project Superintendent to oversee and manage multiple site development projects, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of utility crews, managing equipment logistics, coordinating with foremen and inspectors, and ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget. The role requires someone with a strong understanding of civil site development, with specific expertise in roadwork, earthwork, and pipeline installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Supervision:
- Oversee and manage 3-5 active projects simultaneously, depending on project size and scope.
- Directly supervise 3-4 crews on-site, including dirt and utility crews.
- In large projects (e.g., Kissimmee site), manage up to 6 pipe crews.
- Ensure proper scheduling, planning, and execution of tasks to meet project deadlines and specifications.
- Site Development Oversight:
- Manage the full scope of utility site development, including water, sewer, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and force main installations.
- Have in-depth knowledge of earthwork, road construction, and pipeline installations to provide guidance and direction to the crew.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
- Equipment and Logistics Management:
- Responsible for equipment scheduling, moves, and logistics to ensure the necessary resources are available on-site.
- Monitor crew productivity and manage labor resources to meet project goals.
- Material Management & Scheduling:
- Oversee material releases, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of materials.
- Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules, particularly for tasks that depend on paving, utility installation, and other time-sensitive actions.
- Crew Coordination & Supervision:
- Provide leadership and direction to foremen on-site, ensuring they execute tasks effectively and safely.
- Perform performance reviews and approve timecards for all crews working under your supervision using Heavyjob or other software tools.
- Coordinate with the General Superintendent and other project leads to ensure smooth operations across multiple job sites.
- Client & Inspector Coordination:
- Liaise with clients, including local and national homebuilders (75% repeat work).
- Coordinate with jurisdictions, inspectors, and other regulatory bodies to ensure all permits, inspections, and requirements are met.
- Conduct regular bi-weekly supervisor meetings to discuss project progress, issues, and solutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in utility and civil site development, with a focus on water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
- Previous experience in a superintendent or management role overseeing multiple projects and crews.
- Familiarity with residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects (85% residential, 15% commercial/industrial).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of site development practices, including earthwork, road construction, and pipe installation.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple crews and trades across different sites.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in construction software, including Heavyjob for timecard management and project tracking.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with teams, clients, and inspectors.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license .
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.
