What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Regulatory Affairs US & Canada position at AMVAC CHEMICAL CORP?
The Director of Regulatory Affairs for the US & Canada for American Vanguard / AMVAC will lead the US Regulatory Team to ensure that FIFRA Federal and State and Canadian regulatory requirements are met in support of AMVAC’s portfolio of products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain the US/Canada Regulatory strategy and communicate the challenges, budget needs, and risks to management
- Manage US regulatory staff by assigning accountabilities and maintaining workplans that convey companywide priorities
- Support staff that prepare and manage regulatory submissions to US agencies and ensure compliance with federal FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act) & EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and individual state requirements including strategic peer review of technical data (e.g. toxicology, efficacy, environmental) to support product registrations and renewals
- Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams on US/Canada regulatory requirements for product development and labeling
- Track, interpret and communicate changes in US/Canada regulatory policies, ensuring timely updates to strategies and compliance actions
- Maintain AMVAC’s regulatory freedom to operate with management of regulatory licenses and certifications, recordkeeping and reporting
- Responsibility for infrastructure to facilitate regulatory operations and serve as the designated company contact with regulatory bodies
- Represent the company with external customers (i.e., Committees, Distributors, Task Forces, etc.)
- Participate in Stage Gate priority strategic and budget discussions including evaluations of potential product acquisitions
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- M.S. degree in scientific discipline including Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Ecotoxicology or microbiology required - Advanced degree preferred but not mandatory
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- In-depth knowledge of current US (e.g., EPA, FIFRA, state-level regulations) and Canadian (PMRA – Pest Management Regulatory Agency) regulatory frameworks
- 10 years of direct experience with Crop and Non-crop registrations and their defense for maintaining registrations and uses during Agency reevaluations
- Expert technical understanding of regulatory submissions and the scientific data that underpins the registrations and risk assessments for both conventional and biological pest control products
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple regulatory projects with tight deadlines and to communicate those priorities to the team members
- Skilled in working with R&D, legal, and marketing to align regulatory and business goals
- Effective in liaising with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to facilitate approvals
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with others in a team environment and for negotiation with regulatory authorities are a necessity
- Established relationships within the government agencies is a plus
