What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Sales position at AMVAC CHEMICAL CORP?
American Vanguard Corporation’s specialty and professional solutions business unit is seeking a dynamic sales leader for its OHP-branded ornamental, greenhouse, and Controlled Environmental Agriculture (“CEA”) technical solutions provider. OHP is a recognized leader in bringing novel synthetic and biological technologies into these highly specialized markets.
The Director of Sales will report to American Vanguard’s Non-Crop Specialty President and will work closely with the leadership team to achieve growth objectives while leading an experienced and talented sales team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Non-Crop Specialty President and other members of the leadership team to develop and execute winning strategies, business plans, sales plans, and budgets for AMGUARD to meet/exceed its business and EBITDA objectives.
- Perform analysis of business opportunities and problems through different sources of information including internal sales data, market research reports, competitive information, market observation, financial P&L etc.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national distributor accounts to build AMGUARD’s OHP brand with distribution and to expand the distribution of OHP products nationally.
- Develop and lead a winning team of Key Account Managers (“KAMs”) to strategically drive sales with key distributor and direct sale accounts across the US.
- Collaborate with marketing resources and finance to help design, implement, and manage winning distributor incentive plans and programs to achieve distribution growth goals.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to optimize marketing focus and to align it to commercial objectives.
- Lead a well-structured and accurate forecasting process that enables the organization to provide monthly updates to American Vanguard’s manufacturing teams, finance teams, and to third-party suppliers.
- Develop channel, segment, and market strategies to enable targeted marketing.
- Develop and execute in-depth portfolio and competitive product assessments to identify portfolio product and technology gaps/opportunities.
- Work with the Non-Crop Specialty President, leadership team, and technical team to develop and submit new product and technology, development proposals to the Innovation Review Committee (“IRC”). The purpose of this committee is to evaluate, measure, and select new product, technology, and growth initiatives to invest time and resources into.
- Work closely with the Product Integration Team (“PIT”) to facilitate bringing on new products into the portfolio from select third parties.
- Partner with the leadership team to identify, evaluate, and execute winning company, technology, and product acquisitions.
- Work closely with finance, pricing and program operations, and marketing teams to develop and maintain a comprehensive pricing strategy for OHP portfolio products.
- Lead well-coordinated product launches of new and existing products.
- Lead and cultivate a team of seasoned Technical Sales Managers to ensure they develop and execute winning territory plans to achieve company and territory sales goals.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 10 years of experience marketing and/or selling technical product solutions to ornamental, greenhouse, nursery markets
- Experience driving significant revenue and profit with a team of sales and marketing specialists
- An entrepreneurial, agile, creative mindset that thrives in entrepreneurial environments
- Proven experience successfully launching and scaling new technologies in the marketplace
- A focus on leadership by example, a bias for results and execution, and the humility and confidence to put team success ahead of self
- Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to make rapid decisions and pivot when necessary
- Strong Power Point, Excel, and Word skills required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
- Strong written & oral communication skills
- Experience working in and or with distribution to successfully grow product sales
- Proven skills in sales plan development, execution
- Leverage data and analytics to improve results and increase ROI
- Strong sales ability and negotiation skills
- Experience managing sales professionals that consistently meet or exceed sales targets
- A proven track record of aligning the organization stakeholders around sales and key account strategies
- Travel as required for the role
