Amvac Chemical Corporation is looking for a Floor Lead to join our team. Must be able to work rotating shifts (3-2-2-3) with a shift differential for nights. Our manufacturing plant operates 24x7x365 in Axis, AL.

Job Summary/Objective:
The Formulations Floor Lead position provides production support and leadership for production associates in all Formulations areas.
Essential Functions:
- Leads production when Management is not available.
- Partners with Shift Leadership Team (Control Room Operator and Operator A) to optimize shift personnel to meet production quota.
- Partners with Shift Leadership Team in being responsible for their shift employees.
- Partners with Shift Leadership Team in notifying Management of any personnel performance or conduct issues.
- Partners with Shift Leadership Team to timely communicate production issues, problems, and/or delays from personnel, equipment issues, and/or material issues to Management.
- Ability to lead & direct all production line personnel.
- Effectively communicates and assigns tasks in a professional manner.
- Anticipates and determines causes of delays in shift operations and take appropriate actions to meet production schedules.
- Recognizes problem areas and works with leadership to implement corrective solutions
- Mentors and trains new personnel especially in troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and safety activities.
- Is a constant leadership presence in the Plant and in Formulations Department.
- Drives a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.
- Maintains Formulations inventory of materials and supplies.
- Performs daily trailer inventory.
- Maintains housekeeping inside and outside of Formulations facility.
- Maintains and updates daily paperwork.
- Responsible for equipment inspection as needed.
- Responsible for filling in and helping where needed on the production floor.
- Troubleshoots mechanical and production issues as needed.
- Organizes and leads production tasks and assignments with production associates.
- Responsible for all material handling as it relates to assigned work area.
- Responsible for all material handling as it relates to the production process.
- Identify and report plant conditions to Formulations Supervision as necessary.
- Responsible for Loading/Unloading trailers according to DOT regulations, company directives, and safety requirements.
- Responsible for escorting vendors/contractors on and off site as applicable.
- Operate track mobile, forklift and yard dog following all company and safety requirements.
- Responsible for special waste bin and dumping of PPE waste on daily basis
- Monitor rail car status.
- Monitor clay bin.
- Monitor employee break/lunch periods if applicable.
- Comply and ensure compliance with all regulatory safety requirements and with all regulatory environmental requirements.
- Comply and ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directives.
- Perform other assignments as necessary and directed by management
Management/Supervisory Responsibility:
This position is a lead position with some supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, loud noises, and/or vibrations.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the manufacturing site.
This position may occasionally require work performed in various and/or extreme weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day or at various times of day. The employee must frequently safely lift and move items over 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to Travel:
This position does require the ability to travel if necessary.
Position Type and Working Hours:
- This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position.
- This position will be required to work nights and/or weekends as job duties demand.
- Department and/or production needs determine employee work schedules.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be able to work weekend and day/night 12 hour rotating shifts when necessary.
- Must have leadership skills and a take charge attitude.
- Must be an advocate for management, the Company, and the employees.
- Must be able to work above and beyond normal hours when needed.
- Must be track mobile forklift and yard dog certified.
- Must be able to achieve plant objectives.
- Must be able to work in a team environment to achieve production requirements.
- Must be able to perform minor maintenance.
- Must have a commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Must have good written and verbal communication.
- Must participate in the Safety monthly blood draw program.
- Must be prompt, dependable and have a good attendance record.
- Must be able to participate in the respiratory program which includes but is not limited to being clean shaven and able to wear a respirator when safety needs dictate.
- Must participate in the random drug test.
- Must be able to pass a physical and drug test.
Must be able to pass a Department of Homeland Security approved pre-employment criminal background check.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or the equivalent preferred.
Technical degree preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
1 year of manufacturing experience required.
