Fleet and Logistics Manager
Midwest Livestock Systems (MLS) is a leader in swine, poultry and dairy products, equipment sales and installation, construction and remodeling projects. MLS has 10 locations – five predominantly swine and poultry (Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska) and five predominantly dairy with office locations (Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin). MLS services clients across the United States. MLS is seeking an individual to fill a Fleet and Logistics Manager roll within the company. This position may be based out of any of the current office locations.
Responsibilities would include:
- Purchasing and maintaining vehicles for deliveries
- Registering and licensing vehicles
- Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits
- Selecting carriers for transportation and negotiating rates and contracts with carriers
- Responding to and resolving complaints and problems
- Keeping up-to-date on shipping carriers, routes and rates and any changes to them
- Developing and implementing fleet management policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Overseeing the maintenance and repair of all company vehicles
- Managing vehicle inventory and ensuring that all vehicles are properly registered and insured
- Planning and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency
- Managing and tracking fuel consumption and expenses
- Managing the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and drivers
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
- Assist in Employee Driver Files and Compliance
Qualifications:
- Degree in logistics, business administration or accounting
- More than two years of holding positions in logistics
- Previous work experience in transportation industries
- Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
