What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Specialist-Midwest Livestock position at AMVC Employee Services?
Job Summary:
To assist the Network Administrator in meeting the organization’s IT needs. Most of this person’s time will be spent responding to help requests submitted via emails, phone calls, and some in-person visits across MLS locations. Additional time will be spent working on projects to help grow the organization’s technology infrastructure.
Reports to: Dairy Division General Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support end-users with IT-related problems in a responsive and service-oriented manner.
- Setup, management, and maintenance of IT-related equipment.
- Manage time and projects effectively.
- Help put processes in place to maintain a stable network environment.
- Train staff with IT-related equipment.
- Assist with the troubleshooting, installation, and implementation of systems (some travel required).
- Provide input and recommendations to the organization for hardware and software technologies and how these technologies can assist the business being proactive with modern technologies.
- Evaluate, recommend, and propose alternative methods of information processing.
- Maintain hardware and software maintenance agreements to ensure integrity of operations processes.
- Assist with Office 365, Video Conferencing, Phone Systems, Windows Server and Active Directory
- Employee will attend various continued education training as agreed upon with the Dairy Division General Manager
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Ability to work as a positive member of the MLS team fostering quality working relationships with other MLS team members.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Organized, thorough, and has great attention to detail.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of hardware, software and networking basics.
- Able to install, configure, troubleshoot and support Windows based systems.
- Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Elevated level of analytical thinking to solve problems with an understanding of technology as well as an ability to apply solutions to business problems.
- Effective oral, electronic and written communication skills.
- Does well with minimal “hands on” training and can pick up new skills quickly.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Can consistently follow protocol and instructions.
- Can work independently with little management direction.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Information Systems or related degree
- 3 years experience in IT
- 1 year experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
- Understanding of agriculture or dairy farming a plus
