This is a full-time position with 1st shift hours. Weekend availability is required.

SUMMARY
The Ruth's Chris and Lumber Baron Assistant Manager role is to generate further revenue by executing flawless guest service, keeping our cocktail and wine menus current and competitive, and helping to control the floor throughout daily operations. This includes training the bar staff in both outlets, holding them accountable, while making sure the energy is positive and lively. Works closely with the General Manager and performs specific tasks as requested by the General Manager. Responsible for the general operation of staff functions and all aspects of the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Managing, Training, Implementing New Bar Systems and Structures
- Keeping the bar current with Grand Rapids community by involving ourselves in local drink competitions, advertisements, and events (Wine and Food Festival, GRAM, etc,)
- Coordination between upper management and staff with all cocktail and wine tastings and presentations and between our Wine and Liquor Reps.
- Help management execute Ruth's Chris training to ensure brand compliancy (verbiage, proper service, SMAC certifications, new bartender employees in the bars)
- Responsible for all social media content to increase visibility and drive more traffic to the restaurants and bars – taking us to the next level. Focus on increasing guest counts
- Execute and print our cocktail and wine menus – keeping them current and competitive
- Manage inventory and deadstock wine to decrease wine, beer, and liquor costs
- Assist in the execution of all social events and wine dinners, and Ruth's Chris Cares golf outing
- The contact to help Beverage Assets keep our outlets organized and up to date with our BEOs
- Works constantly with cost control to keep our pricing competitive and more profitable
- Keep up on preventative maintenance and deep cleaning within the bars
- Responsible for scheduling of staff for both Ruth's Chris Bar and Lumber Baron
- Ability to close and open both outlets - Hold the bar staff (for both outlets) accountable for proper guest service and consistent pours
- Responsible for keeping bar area up to "trends" (i.e. drinks, purse hooks, chargers)
- Cross train with Private Dining/Sales Manager and fully understands BEOs and executing them
- This position can free management to help Ann Arbor Ruth's Chris when needed
- Uphold all Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and AHC Hospitality service culture standards and beliefs.
- Maintains contact with guests and helps to assure maximum guest satisfaction
- Plans and coordinates training and professional development programs for restaurant personnel
- Monitors labor; evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs
- Assists General Manager with achieving daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines for submitting reports
- Assists the General Manager with counseling and disciplining employees
- Other ad hoc projects as assigned by the General Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS
- TIPS Certified
- Serve Safe Manager Certified
- Able to read and comprehend a P&L
- Have experience with conflict resolution in the workplace
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
- 2 years management experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel
- TIPS Certified
- Wine knowledge required
