You'll have the opportunity to touch on various aspects of a career in marketing, including, but not limited to, email marketing, data analytics, content creation, SEO strategy and administrative support.
Qualified candidates must have strong writing skills, solid project management and organizational skills, a clear understanding of marketing principles, basic design capabilities and a drive to meet high-quality expectations through teamwork and performance.
The marketing intern will work closely with the marketing coordinator and Underwriting marketing team in our Charlotte office. We are looking for local candidates, as housing assistance is not provided for this internship.

Key Areas of Responsibility
MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT
- Email marketing. Develop and design email campaigns for the division and learn to use A/B testing to improve campaign results.
- Campaign tracking analytics support. This person will assist in quarterly marketing results/analytics reports, including gathering metrics for the division’s email, social, advertising, PR and website efforts.
- Content research and creation. Review trending news and recommend timely topics and creative approaches for content generation that support divisional capabilities.
- SEO strategy. Assist the marketing team in implementing SEO strategies that drive organic traffic and enhance search engine rankings for key program pages.
- Writing and editing. This person will be responsible for writing content for various communication mediums, including but not limited to the intranet, newsletters, social media posts and webpages. Must be able to proofread material for errors effectively. Required demonstrated strong writing and editing skills.
- Sales collateral support. This person will provide miscellaneous support for the division, including creating and/or updating marketing materials, such as sell sheets, applications, brochures, PPTs, etc.
- Divisional intranet page audit and support. This person will help create new content and ensure the accuracy of existing content.
- Vendor management support. This person will audit last year’s third-party vendor leads and contact program managers to quantify bound business.
- Design support. This person will coordinate with the graphic designer on social media graphics, sell sheet updates, sponsorship advertising, etc.
- Website. This person will maintain and update content, whenever necessary, on amwins.com.
- Candidates who do not meet these minimum requirements will not be considered.
- Enrolled at an accredited 4-year college or university
- Rising junior or rising senior
- Prefer degrees in the arena of marketing, journalism, public relations, integrated marketing communications or another related field
- Must have a digital portfolio that can be submitted for review
- Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above
- Basic knowledge of marketing principles and trends
- Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of HubSpot or other email marketing tools is a plus
- Knowledge of Google Analytics is a plus
- Strong organizational skills. This person must be comfortable working on projects that require a high level of organization, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills. This person must exhibit excellent communication skills in day-to-day tasks and work meetings.
- Detail-oriented. This person must be obsessively detail-oriented and produce highly accurate work. They must also be able to ensure that materials given to them for review are thoroughly verified and corrected.
- Eagerness to learn. This person must be comfortable learning the basic principles of the insurance industry and be unafraid to ask questions.
- Team-oriented/strong interpersonal skills. This person must be comfortable working in dynamic and diverse teams. They must enjoy and appreciate working in a collaborative environment.
- Sense of accountability. This person must be willing to accept accountability for deadlines and responsibilities. They are expected to be able to do whatever is necessary to deliver quality projects on time.
- Versatile. This person must demonstrate an ability to manage ongoing tasks and special projects. They must be comfortable working on items with varying levels of difficulty.
